Bob Ader: Harry Who? The Songs Of Harry Warren
With Pianist Elliott Finkel
Directed by Marilyn Spanier
Musical Arrangements by Salvatore Messano.
As a child show business professional, Bob used to love watching the movie musicals from the 1930s and 40s on television. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he had a great appreciation and love for the work of composers such as George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Irving Berlin. He was especially drawn to the work Harry Warren, the most prolific composer of music for motion pictures from the 1930s through the 1950s. However, it seemed that almost nobody else knew who Harry Warren was. Nor did they know that his songs were nominated for Academy Awards 11 times and that he had won the award 3 times. Hence the title of Bob’s Show, Harry Who? In this show, not only will Bob Ader be performing some of his favorite Harry Warren songs, but he will also be explaining why Harry Warren has remained unknown for so many years. Also, he will be demonstrating both verbally and musically the unique story of how Harry Warren composed the music for You’ll Never Know, the song which won him his 2nd Academy Award.
