Jo Walker: Life Is So Peculiar
An evening with the American Songbook
Featuring Bill Zeffiro
Doesn’t everybody sing along to Sinatra in their living room? Jo always loved these songs: a throwback to the days when couples danced to big bands and war was raging. This was Jo’s parent’s music. Or so she thought.
A chance meeting at a club in Manhattan brought Bill and Jo together, and they started diving into these classic songs just for the joy of it. Then they discovered they had a show. You can never tell where an open mic and a great musician can lead you – life is so peculiar that way!
How did these songs affect the Greatest Generation? And how did they get so deep into Jo’s bones, too? Join Jo and Bill as they take the Songbook on a trip from the 40s to today. Directed by Lennie Watts, Music Direction and arrangements by Bill Zeffiro, with John Miller (bass) and Chip Fabrizi (drums).
