Multiple award-winning Singer Jeff Harnar returns to Don’t Tell Mama with multiple award-winning Music Director Alex Rybeck to revisit songs from the shows they presented  there in the 1980’s, when they were forging their 42-year-long musical partnership. Together they have gone on to appear in nearly every major venue nationwide, in London, Oslo and Paris, had their shows filmed for PBS, and recorded five albums together for Original Cast Records, Varese Sarabande and PS Classics.

The show, “Blame It On My Youth,” takes its name from the Oscar Levant song they first performed in the 1980’s.  They will shine a special spotlight on lyrics Harnar first sang in his 20’s, and how his perspective on them has evolved over time.

The songwriters featured include Irving Berlin, Kander & Ebb, Richard Rodgers, Jerry Herman, Stephen Sondheim, Charles Aznavour, Paul Simon, Carole King and Billy Joel.  The musical arrangements are by Rybeck and Brian Lasser, one of their pivotal early collaborators.

The promotional photograph was taken by Michael Ian, the same Michael Ian who photographed their Don’t Tell Mama poster that presently hangs on the wall of the legendary venue.
